German for Study & Work
Learning German means becoming able to act.
Anyone who wants to study, work and live in Germany needs language for more than exams.
German is needed to follow a lecture, ask questions, understand a work assignment, speak with colleagues, interpret an email correctly or express your own position in a conversation.
That is why we do not understand language acquisition solely as learning vocabulary and grammar.
Language creates the possibility to participate.
Our online German courses combine systematic language learning with situations from study, work and everyday life. The aim is both linguistic confidence and the ability to understand communication in its context and increasingly shape it independently.
Learning German from the very beginning
Our German courses start even before level A1. This means learners with no previous knowledge of German can also begin with us.
At first, the language of instruction is English. As German skills grow, German itself increasingly becomes the shared language of learning and communication.
Language development is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages(CEFR). Structure, tasks and exam preparation also take the requirements of recognised language examinations into account.
Reaching a particular level is not the only focus. What matters is that learners can use the German they have acquired in the situations for which they need it.
General German for study, work and everyday life
Our general German courses are aimed at international students, prospective students and learners from a wide range of disciplines.
Language foundations are built systematically and increasingly connected with situations relevant to study, entering professional life and everyday life in Germany.
Alongside vocabulary and grammar, this includes listening and reading comprehension, spoken communication and written expression. As the language level increases, the linguistic demands become more complex and more closely aligned with learners’ real communication situations.
A language level matters. But the ability to act only develops when language can actually be used.
German for IT and Medicine
In certain professional and academic fields, general German alone is not enough.
General language learning can therefore be complemented by specialised German for IT and Medicine and deepened in line with the learner’s existing language level.
The focus is not on isolated technical terms. Specialist language has to be understood and used in context for example when reading professional information, inconversations, when asking follow-up questions, in documentation or in typical communication situations within the relevant professional field.
General language competence and specialist language are therefore connected where they are actually needed for study and work.
Learning online - individually or together
Our German courses take place online.
For learners who want individual support, have specific language goals or would like to organise their learning path flexibly, we offer individual courses.
Our group courses run with a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 participants. The manageable group size enabless hared learning and language exchange while still leaving room for different learning levels and individual needs.
This format is particularly suitable for international cooperation partners, universities, companies and organisations that want to prepare a connected group for study or professional activity in Germany.
The starting point is the learner’s current language level and the goal they want to achieve.
What matters is not only which German someone already knows, but which German they actually need.
Targeted exam preparation
A language examination places different demands on learners than using German in everyday life, study or work.
Targeted exam preparation can therefore be arranged as an additional service. Learners become familiar with typical exam formats and tasks, work specifically on linguistic requirements and practise exam situations.
Preparation is based on the requirements of the relevant examination and aligned with the language level already achieved and the intended exam goal.
Exam preparation complements regular language learning. It does not replace it.
Language and intercultural orientation belong together.
Learning a new language also means encountering new communication habits and assumptions.
How directly can I disagree? How do I speak with professors, supervisors or colleagues? When is a statement considered binding. How are criticism, expectations or uncertainty communicated?
Grammatically correct sentences alone do not answer these questions.
That is why German for Study & Work is part of our Intercultural Collaboration area.
Language learning and intercultural orientation can be combined so that people not only understand what is being said, but increasingly learn to interpret how it is meant and the context in which communication takes place.
When the path to Germany raises further questions
Anyone preparing to study or work in Germany often has to deal with more than language alone.
Questions about recognition of previous educational or vocational qualifications, required documents or application procedures at German universities may create an additional need for orientation.
As a complement to our language courses, we can therefore support you in understanding these procedures and preparing the necessary steps.
For this, we draw on legal expertise within our team. This support is intended to provide orientation, structure and preparation.
Learning needs connection
Language acquisition does not succeed simply by knowing as many rules as possible.
New language structures need to be understood, applied, repeated and connected with existing knowledge. Language develops when learners actually use it, receive feedback and become increasingly confident in expressing their own thoughts.
Mistakes are part of this process. They show what has already been understood and where greater confidence can still develop.
Our goal is therefore not the fastest possible production of “correct” sentences.
Our goal is increasing linguistic independence.
For international partners
We also work with international partners who prepare students, prospective students or professionals for their next steps towards Germany.
Together, we align language goals, group size, timeframe and additional content with the respective target group.
Depending on the starting point, general language learning, specialist German, intercultural orientation and exam preparation can becombined. Orientation regarding recognition procedures or university applications can also be included as an additional element.
This does not create a standardised programme that everyone has to fit into. It creates a learning path that takes account of the starting point, the goal and the actual needs of the respective group.
Language opens doors. Understanding lets us walk through them.
